Running: Q2 Status Update
The 2nd quarter status updates comes in a few weeks late, but is anyone really counting? Also it's been a pretty massive session for me so I didn't want to interrupt the flow by prematurely recording it. Since the last update, I've raced a half marathon as a fitness tester, followed by a summer marathon trilogy which featured marathons through Luxembourg City, the north shore of Lake Superior, and mountain valleys in Aspen, CO. It's been a crazy start to the summer but I could not be more pleased with how my running has been going! My current accomplishments broken down are:
- Total miles ran: 1409 (291 miles ahead of schedule for 2,000 yearly miles)
- Half Marathon PR: 1:23:05 (6:20/mi)
- Full Marathon PR 1: 03:09:29 (7:14/mi; Luxembourg)
- Full Marathon PR 2: 02:55:54 (6:43/mi; Duluth, MN)
- Full Marathon PR 3: 02:50:35 (6:30/mi; Aspen, CO)
- Still no major injuries!
With two marathons under 3-hours, I now have qualifying times for the 2024 Boston Marathon, which I fully intend to run assuming I beat this year's cut off times. Between now and then, the race schedule is full of a lot more fun and new styles of races. In August, I'll run my first time trial 5K (Twilight 5K hosted by Tracksmith) and a 200mi relay race from Mt. Hood to the Pacific coast (Hood to Coast). September is currently race-less, but who knows how long that will last?
In short, wow-zas this hobby is getting pretty intense, but also the most fun it's ever been :)
