Running: Q1 Status Update
At one point I intended to do monthly status updates on my running goals, but that quickly got away from me. Quarterly updates seems like a nice middle ground so here we go!
Winter training has been fruitful, but mentally tough. The number of runs I've done with snow stinging my cheeks or ended with an icicle beard is far higher than it should be, but I'm hopeful to say those days are (almost) over. Despite the environmental challenges, this has easily been the most successful training block I've attempted. It isn't over yet, but I'm maintaining momentum and motivation until full marathon season arrives. In the past three months, I've achieved the following:
- Ran 693 miles (200 miles ahead of schedule for the 2,000 yearly miles goal)
- Raced my first 8K/5mi distance: 30:46 or 6:09/mi
- Completed several 20+ mile training runs
- No major injuries!
In the next 3 months, I'll be racing a half marathon and two full marathons (one for fun, one for time). These races will be a test of how much all this training has done for me and I can't wait to see results!
